If you wish to register a .com.au domain name then you will need to pass the following
eligibilty rules:
1. To be eligible to register a domain name ending in .au you must be one of the
following:
- an Australian registered company
- trading under a registered business name in any Australian State or Territory
- an Australian partnership or sole trader
- a foreign company licensed to trade in Australia
- an owner of an Australian Registered Trade Mark
- an applicant for an Australian Registered Trade Mark
- an association incorporated in any Australian State or Territory
- an Australian commercial statutory body
2. The domain name you are registering must exactly match, be an acronym or abbreviation
of the registrant’s company or trading name, organization or association name or
trademark; or be otherwise closely and substantially connected to the registrant.
You will be asked to provide information proving your eligibility. For example, an
ABN number which is registered to a business matching the required name.
